Notes on Ibanez 6 String Neck Compatibility

For our stock 24 fret All Access Style Neck Joint (AANJ) bodies, we stick to the gold standard heel width with a 56mm wide, Japanese spec neck pocket.  The necks that were built for these pockets are extremely consistent and are still widely available on the used RG market.  There are other Korean/Indonesian Ibanez branded necks made that can work with little to no modifications needed provided they are the proper heel width.

We always recommend accurately measuring your neck heel width yourself to verify that it will fit in the pocket.  There are factory specification sheets for most necks that list generic specifications for specific years but these specs are exactly that- generic, and should not be taken as gospel.

Of course, the standard 56mm neck pocket we use is the narrowest neck heel width you will run into, so if you are unable to accurately measure your neck heel and/or you do have a wider neck, the neck pocket can be opened up to accommodate your neck by either yourself or a tech with minimal tools.

Notes on 7 string Ibanez Neck Compatibility

For our stock 7 string 24 fret All Access Style Neck Joints (AANJ), we stick to the narrowest width heel (65mm)  Japanese spec neck pocket.  The necks that were built for these pockets are extremely consistent and are still fairly available on the used RG market.  There are other Korean/Indonesian Ibanez branded necks made that can work with little modifications needed provided they are the proper heel width.

We always recommend accurately measuring your neck heel width yourself to verify that it will fit in our stock pocket.  While there are factory specification sheets for most necks that list generic specifications for specific years, these specs are exactly that- generic, and can be deceiving.

Of course, the standard 65mm neck pocket we use is the narrowest neck heel width you will run into, so if you are unable to accurately measure your neck hee and/or have a wider neck, the 65mm pocket is a great starting point that can be opened up to accommodate wider width necks.
